Alerts and notifications not arriving
The checklist that finds the blocker, from permissions to Focus modes.
Alerts pass through several gates on the way to your Lock Screen. Check them in this order.
1. Notifications allowed for Countdown
iPhone Settings, then Notifications, then Countdown: Allow Notifications on, with Lock Screen and Banners ticked. If Countdown is not in the list, open the app once and allow notifications when asked.
2. The event actually has an alert
Open the event, tap Edit, then Alerts. An event with alerts shows when they fire, for example 1 week before and on the day. New events use your default alerts, which you can change in the app's Settings under Default Notifications.
3. Focus modes and scheduled summary
A Focus like Do Not Disturb or Sleep can silence or delay alerts unless Countdown is allowed within it: iPhone Settings, then Focus, choose the mode, and add Countdown under allowed apps. Also check Settings, then Notifications, then Scheduled Summary: if Countdown is in the summary, alerts wait for the summary time instead of arriving live.
4. Timing on all-day events
An event without a time alerts at a sensible morning hour on the day, not at midnight. If you need an alert at an exact moment, give the event a time.
